Two companies, two different Manila ports, and a weekly rather than daily schedule. Here is how the crossing actually works.
Those two ports are the same — change one.
Opens a PHBus search for the port pair. This is a weekly service rather than a daily one, so try a few dates either side if your first choice shows nothing.
“Manila” is not one pier here. 2GO sails from Manila North Harbor, Pier 4; Atienza from Baseco Port in Tondo. Different places, a slow drive apart.
With the next boat days away rather than hours, the wrong port is not a delay — it is the end of the plan. Check your booking before you order the taxi.
These are very different services at very different prices. The gap is mostly comfort and speed rather than the route itself.
| Company | Manila pier | Pattern | Crossing | Cabin classes | From |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2GO Travel | Manila North Harbor, Pier 4 | Weekly, Friday evening | About 13 hrs | Super Value, Mega Value, Tourist | ₱2,600 |
| Atienza InterIsland | Baseco Port, Tondo | 2–3 sailings a week, days change | 13–18 hrs | Economy (roll-on roll-off) | ₱1,700 |
| Direction | Day | Departs | Arrives | Crossing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Manila → Coron | Friday | 17:30 | 06:30 next day | About 13 hrs |
| Coron → Manila | Sunday | 20:30 | 09:30 next day | About 13 hrs |
One sailing a week in each direction. Miss it and the next is seven days later, which is why this leg is usually booked well before the rest of a Palawan trip.
Atienza runs a roll-on roll-off vessel two or three times a week, and the sailing days move from month to month. Published listings disagree about which days and about the crossing time, with figures from thirteen to eighteen hours. For that reason no fixed Atienza timetable is printed here: a stale timetable on a route this infrequent does more harm than none at all.
What is consistent across sources is the shape of the service: Baseco Port in Tondo, an economy fare around ₱1,700, an overnight passage, and vehicle space aboard. Check the current sailing days before you build a plan around it.
Check Manila to Coron sailings
Most people arriving in Coron by sea are heading further down Palawan.
Coron Port, where the Manila boats dock, is the same pier the El Nido fast ferries leave from — so the connection is a short walk rather than another transfer. The catch is timing. The 2GO sailing berths around 06:30, which lands comfortably before the El Nido departures between 06:00 and 08:20, but it leaves very little margin if the crossing runs late.
Unless you enjoy a tight connection after a night at sea, take a night in Coron town first. The Coron to El Nido timetable shows what you would be connecting to.
The four that decide whether the boat makes sense for your trip.
Two companies: 2GO Travel and Atienza InterIsland Ferries. They are not alternatives that run side by side — 2GO sails once a week on a fixed night from Manila North Harbor, while Atienza runs a cheaper roll-on roll-off service a few times a week from Baseco Port in Tondo.
About 13 hours on 2GO, leaving in the evening and arriving the following morning. Atienza is slower, with published figures ranging from 13 to 18 hours depending on the vessel and the weather. Either way it is an overnight passage, not a day trip.
That depends entirely on the company, and this is the detail that catches people out. 2GO uses Manila North Harbor, Pier 4. Atienza uses Baseco Port in Tondo. They are separate facilities with separate entrances, so going to the wrong one means missing an overnight sailing that may not run again for days.
The ferry is usually cheaper — Atienza economy runs about PHP 1,700 against PHP 3,000 and up for a flight — but it costs you a night and most of a day. Flights to Busuanga take a little over 1 hour. Travellers generally take the boat for the experience or the budget, not to save time.
Most people on this crossing are passing through Coron on the way somewhere else.
This page covers the crossing itself. For ship-by-ship detail and the wider network, these go further.
These are separate sites, not part of elnidoferry.com. Fares, sailing days and vessel details there are maintained by whoever runs them, so check the date on anything you rely on.
The 2GO pattern is consistent across every source checked and is the firmer of the two. The Atienza details are not: published days, crossing times and even the fare classes differ between listings, and the operator adjusts the schedule monthly.
Where sources disagreed, this page says so rather than picking one and presenting it as fact. On a route with one or two sailings a week, a confidently wrong departure day is worse than an honest gap.
